Bonnie Holmes, a native Californian happily transplanted to Montana for many years now, loves to paint contemporary, impressionistic landscapes. She practices plein air painting and often takes those images and refines them into larger paintings in her studio. She has a lyrical sense of color, rendering atmospheric effects and momentary shifts of color in paint as light and shadows change from moment to moment in the outdoors.
She originally focused on figurative work after her art school training, but that was as a city girl. Learning to fly fish in Montana opened her world to the landscapes she now so passionately paints.
While she currently resides in Lincoln, Montana, she still maintains a studio in Ennis. Her paintings reflect the ever-changing beauty of this area and bring delight to the homes where they hang.
