About the Artist

Lexi Sundell is noted for her large dramatic flower paintings that glow with an inner luminosity. Poppies are a particular favorite of hers and she grows most of the flowers she paints.

The paintings have delicately layered paint to create the blended and luminous effects of dawn light falling across her flowers. She often uses painted gallery wrap edges so the painting can be hung unframed for a contemporary look or framed if that is desired.

Her work has been shown at the Yellowstone Art Museum three years running and at the Museum of Art And Culture. Her painting, Orchid at Midnight, was juried into Blossom-The Art of the Flower as one of 50 chosen from over 1700 entries from 14 countries. Orchid at Midnight then won a juror's choice award in the show, which is touring museums until 2009.

Her book, Painting Acrylic Flowers A-Z, was published in October of 2007. Simon and Schuster has it in Australia, Northlight in North America, and Search Press in the United Kingdom. She painted over 50 floral paintings for the book, documenting the stages of the paintings, and wrote the text to accompany this thorough work.
